Agent Builder at hyperexponential Jobs | Skills & Interview Guide

Hi, I’m Richard Gunn, President at hx. Having joined hx as employee number 5 – and grown the Global Revenue team to >100 – I’m now responsible for leading our US expansion. I personally love this stage, as it is a chance to be building again – across all axes: team, capabilities, and product. And it’s moving a lot faster with the advent of agents!

What excites me about this role is that we’ve proven the motion works in the US, but there is a ton of work required to scale it. Agent Builders are the people who do that work: part engineer, part solutions lead, always in front of the customer.

So this isn’t a traditional solutions or engineering role. You’ll sit with insurers from the first custom demo, run the bootcamp on their site, and build all the way through to live premium and expansion. You’ll build agent’s everyday and help define how both you and our customers work.

I’m looking for a builder who is obsessed with two things: turning customer problems into agents they use every day, and putting more premium through our platform than the market thinks is possible. You should be as comfortable in a room with a Chief Underwriter as you are with your own agents!

I hope to chat soon!

Richard

About hyperexponential (hx)

At hyperexponential, we’re building the agentic platform for commercial insurance underwriting.

Underwriters make decisions that shape the real world: which risks to take, how to price them, and where capital gets deployed. Those decisions can determine whether a new technology gets built, a business can grow, or a community can recover after disaster.

Yet much of the industry still makes billion-dollar decisions through fragmented systems, manual workflows and technology that wasn’t built for the complexity of modern risk.

hx is changing that. We bring together data, models, AI and human judgement so insurers can understand risk more deeply, make better decisions faster and ultimately enable the world to take more risk with confidence.

Born in London, hx is now a global team of nearly 300 people across London, New York and Warsaw. Leading global carriers and MGAs use hx to support underwriting across more than $75bn of annual commercial P&C premium. Backed by a16z, Highland Europe and Battery Ventures, we’re scaling rapidly across products, markets and geographies.

AI is changing what great work looks like, and we’re building hx around that reality. People here get real ownership, high expectations and the space to use these tools to increase the quality and ambition of what they can do.

About the team

Field Engineering (FENG) is the technical core of our go-to-market organisation. The team sits at the intersection of product, sales, and customer success, owning the “technical win” in each opportunity and making hx platform real for some of the most demanding insurers in the world. We work with underwriters, actuaries, IT, and security leaders to design solutions they can trust with their most critical pricing and underwriting decisions.

This is a team that thrives at the edge of what’s possible for our product and our customers. We specialise in the hardest integration and implementation challenges, where deep technical understanding, domain insight, and creativity are all required. As a Solutions Architect, you’ll be one of the first hx’ers many prospects meet, shaping how they understand our platform and what it can do for their business.

Solutions Architects at hx are the voice of IT, security and infrastructure – both inside hx and in front of customers. We figure out how hx Renew fits into complex, often ancient system landscapes, translating between modern cloud architectures and 1990s reality without losing sight of the bigger transformation.

The culture is high-ownership, collaborative, and very visible: every engagement is high stakes, every interaction leaves a lasting impression, and your work feeds directly into both revenue outcomes and product direction. You’ll partner closely with Sales and Product Engineering, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the sales cycle and beyond, and helping customers realise the full value of hx’s core product suite.
